Are they lost forever among the party-gal pages of noughties&nbsp;<em>Vogue<\/em>? Stuck in a box in the back of Sienna Miller\u2019s closet, a relic of her bohemian-Brit phase circa 2004? I had long forgotten about the iconic carryall, having been too focused on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/micro-bag-trend-gigi-hadid-rihanna-emily-ratajkowski-real-life\">micro purses<\/a>&nbsp;(fit for Polly Pocket and her miniature makeup sets) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/underarm-bags-kendall-bella-gucci\">shoulder bags<\/a>(minimalist, sitting right below the armpit). This year, my bags have been structured, restrained, pared-back, and, yes, very small. In a way, that no-frills look has been great, even life-changing: My bag\u2019s daily contents have been cut down to the essentials, such as a spare contact, a foundation stick, a card wallet\u2014no cash\u2014and a pack of gum. It\u2019s been great for the sake of organization, but I have to ask: Where\u2019s the fun?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The hobo bag is full of just that:&nbsp;<em>fun<\/em>. Its strap is strong, its body is expandable, curvy, and carefree, sometimes with a bit of slouch. It\u2019s made for a day of shopping\u2014stuff a pair of vintage jeans in there!\u2014and one can even fit a liter of water (to stay hydrated&nbsp;<em>all day<\/em>). Also, books. I personally need to touch actual paper pages and not my phone, which is one reason why I\u2019m making a public (and possibly unpopular) plea for the return of the hobo bag in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1332\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4.jpg\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-8526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4.jpg 1332w, https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4-500x338.jpg 500w, https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4-1024x692.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/demo2.themelexus.com\/zoli\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/img-blog_4-800x541.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1332px) 100vw, 1332px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I have fond memories of the polarizing shape. It reminds me of the Olsen twins in their peak boho period, slinging toddler-size bags over their shoulders and looking both chic and ridiculous. What were they carrying? We may never know.
